Whirlwind of a long weekend.
Thursday night we were in New Orleans for the business channel rally. Those people are wild. We ended up at the Cat’s Meow (usually I hate karoke bars) until after 2am. We had a blast, probably because there were at least 20 people with us, most of whom didn’t change out of their 80s attire. Jason ended up dancing on stage at some point after midnight, you know, because it was his birthday.
Friday we headed back home to pick up munchkin so that my dad could rest for a few hours before we were off to see HP7. The three of us took a much needed nap upon our arrival at home. Saw HP7 in the late afternoon, which was an excellent decision on our part because it wasn’t sold out, and the kids were still in school. Except for that one that got scared at the beginning of the movie and yelled for nearly ten minutes before finally being taken out of the theatre. We came home with barely enough time to try to clean and start dinner before the “game night” crowd arrived. Dinner, German chocolate (birthday) cake, and three games of Mexican Train later and I was so exhausted I couldn’t make complete sentences.
Saturday we went to look at mantels because we have to get one ordered soon soon soon because Christmas stockings are a necessity. Then we went to Sams because it was down the street. Kylie didn’t want to have anything to do with the shopping cart, so I put her down to walk. First time she’s ever been free in a store. Needless to say she just walked up and down the aisles as fast as she could. She was as happy as she could be. Then Jason made her think that a plush rocking horse was going to attack her. She was laughing so hard, she couldn’t stand up. That afternoon we watched LSU beat Ole Miss (thank goodness) while Kylie ran around yelling “touchdown yay!”
Sunday we were up at 6am (!!!!!!!) so I started trying to tackle the mess that had taken over the house. Then we made some progress with the stuff in the garage that needed to go in the attic. We cleaned out closets. We took a load to goodwill. And I posted a pile of stuff on ebay and craigslist. Not much makes me happier than a serious decluttering of the living space.
Now that Kylie is napping I need to get my coffee-infused booty off the computer and into the shower. The Thanksgiving crowd started arriving Saturday night, and I think we’re up to 4 adults, 7 kids in the condo and 4 adults, 6 kids in the house with more arriving all day. Kylie needs to meet some cousins, and I have some serious visiting to do. I love when we have “big holidays.” This may be the biggest Thanksgiving we’ve had in 12 years, since my grandparents moved from Louisiana to the coast. YAY!!!
